My match rifle for 2015 and 2016 was getting a little high in round count so I decided it was time to have another Creedmoor barrel spun up and installed on one of my Stiller Tac30AW actions. I'll use the old barreled action as a practice tool until accuracy goes south.

Putting rounds down range one week prior to the Michigan Guardian match August 12th.

First 15, All of these were Hornady factory 140 ELD match but two different lots. The bottom group was the very first rounds fired from the barrel with the hign impact being the first. The top group was with that same lot again and the middle group is from another lot#

After 117 rounds fired I noticed the barrel had sped up around 70-80fps and I felt safe to start match prep with my hand load and started checking predicted drop against actual.

I'd say Pierce Engineering in Lansing MI knows how to chamber and install barrels!

The load I have decided to run is 41.5 grains of H4350 under a 140 Hornady ELD which gives me about 2733 fps. While not a hot load it is super consistent. And one lesson I learn from my time shooting the AR-Creedmoor last year was that you can still win matches without running your barrel at max velocity... So I think I'll stay here for awhile.

Shot the Guardian August 12th and ended up taking 4th.

One of the few pics taken at the match. This was a no dial hold over stage with a target at 293, 428, 567, 596, 687 yards. After crawling through a pipe we moved to an adjacent pipe to take our shots. One of the few stages I shot clean.

Wisconsin Precision Rifle Steel Challenge August 26th, on the western edge of Lake Michigan.

Thanks guys. Rem06, nope, I have not shot the the ASC match but one of the guys I shoot with (person taking the pics of me at the guardian match) went last year to the 308 only match and had a lot of good things to say about it. Sounds like a great match set in a beautiful part of our country. Take lots of pictures!
